Senegal-America Project

Hi all
This is Lenny Moitoso from Roger Ludlowe Middle School in Fairfield, CT. My colleague Rich and I are getting ready for the adventure. Everything from mosquito repellant to sunscreen has been purchased, and excitement is brewing here in Fairfield. Yesterday, a reporter from the local paper stopped by our school, and asked us all about the project. Our students have begun studying the country of Senegal, and watched the Baaba Maal video produced by PALM and National Geographic. Our 7th grade students have made a DVD entitled a Day in the Life of a Roger Ludlowe student to share with our friends in Senegal. We hope to make a similar video to bring back to our school about a day in the life of a Senegalese student. Today we are making "About Me" pages to share with the students in Senegal. They include pictures of themselves, their favorite things, family, etc. Our hope is that we can help the students there make some also to bring back to our kids in fairfield. Ultimately, we hope that our experiences will help broaden understanding of other people and cultures and make real life connections.
